John Prados (1951-2022)

John Prados is memorialized in this obituary that appears on the US Naval Institute website: https://www.usni.org/magazines/naval-history-magazine/2022/december/memoriam-john-prados-1951-2022

Dr. Prados, a senior analyst at the National Security Archive, was the author of numerous books related to intelligence and military history, including Combined Fleet Decoded: The Secret History of American Intelligence and the Japanese Navy in World War II (Random House: 1995) and Storm Over Leyte: The Philippine Invasion and the Destruction of the Japanese Navy (Dutton, 2016).

Dr. Prados garnered Naval History Author of the Year honors for his June 2021 article “Intel Assignment: Tokyo” and his December 2021 article “Pearl Harbor at 80.” But for many years, he was a recurring, and always welcome, contributor to Naval History.
