On-line access to back issues of the Journal is provided by JSTOR, an initiative of the Mellon Foundation. In 1994 the Mellon Foundation initiated JSTOR (journal storage) to ease the problems faced by libraries in storing the long runs of back issues of scholarly journals.
Back issues of The Journal of Military History, including the preceding titles published by the Society for Military History since Vol. 1, but excluding the most recent twelve issues of the Journal, are now available on the internet through JSTOR. If you are a member of an institution or agency which has purchased access to the JSTOR materials, you can already view them. If you are unable to view the Journal through an institution or agency, the Society has worked out an arrangement with JSTOR that allows members to purchase individual subscriptions for online access to the entire run of the Journal of Military History except for the last three years.
