• UNM's history library is very strong in American frontier, American West and Southwest, American Indians, Spanish borderlands and Latin America, and Gender.
• The library holds National Archives microfilm collections of nineteenth century Department of War documents and has a fairly complete run of the Congressional Serial Set.
• The open stacks and special collections also hold a rich collection of published memoirs, letters, and journals relating to the frontier military experience.
• The library collection of published primary and secondary literature is also reasonably strong.
• UNM is a federal repository library. Consequently it receives a copy of all unclassified books, reports, magazines, and journals published by the three major military branches and other federal departments.
