Bio Note:

Will Waddell graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2001 with a B.S. in History.  Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant of Armor, Will served with the 3rd ACR in Iraq in 2003/2004.  He also served as a combat advisor to the Afghan National Army in Paktika Province in 2008/2009.  He completed his Masters Degree in Military History at The Ohio State University and achieved doctoral candidacy in 2011 with fields in Military History with Dr. John Guilmartin and Dr. Mark Grimsley, in Modern European History with Dr. Alice Conklin, and in Early Modern European History with Dr. Geoffrey Parker.

Will’s dissertation focuses on the First Indochina War, particularly on French efforts in Cochinchina.  He is also the lead organizer for Ohio State’s biennial Graduate Student Conference on Military History. Will has received numerous Bradley Foundation Fellowships and several grants from the Mershon Center for International Security Studies.  He plans on completing his dissertation in late 2013.
