Bio Note:

Mr. Carr is a native of Liberia, a former veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and an alumni of The Ohio State University.  He begins his studies in the fall semester of 2016 at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London.  Mr. Carr intends to trace the Poro’s (one of the oldest religions in West Africa) evolution of warfare from the Hut Tax War (1898) to the First Liberian Civil War (FLCW).  In doing so Carr argues that the strategy implemented by Charles Taylor of the National Patriotic Front of Liberia during the FLCW was part of a longer Poro tradition of waging war.
