ABC-Clio Research Grants
The rules for this competition follow:
Eligibility:
Each applicant must be a current member of the Society for Military History, and either: a) a graduate student currently enrolled in a doctoral program, or, b) employed full-time as a professional historian without having obtained a doctoral degree.
Application Guidelines:
- Submit a current curriculum vita (3-5 pages maximum)
- Include a statement of no more than 500 words describing your research project, including specific uses to which you intend to apply these funds and indicating other sources of financial support already received
- Include a one-page bibliography of the most recent relevant secondary work on your topic
- Include a letter of recommendation from your adviser or another historian who is familiar with your work
- Application deadline: 11 January 2013

A committee comprised of SMH members and a representative from ABC-CLIO will determine the winners of this annual competition by February 1, 2013. The awards will be presented at the Awards Luncheon at the next SMH annual meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana in March 2013.
