Duties:
As the Director of Army Museums, you will guide and shape the future of a global museum system with 63 museums and nearly 100 special collections comprised of over 750,000 artifacts and 15,000 artworks as well as a civilian workforce of 200+ museum professionals. Assisted by a staff of museum professionals, you will create and implement policy and programs providing strategic direction for Army museums’ operational resources, acquisition and contracting, in coordination with other Army components and Federal agencies. The Director of Army Museums is also the Army’s proponent for all aspects of curatorial functions involving the preservation, accountability and disposition of Army historical artifacts. The incumbent will lead the continuous reshaping of the museum organization to meet the Army’s changing needs while sustaining world-class programs for military education and training, heritage and cohesion, and in support of Army research and development.
About the Position:
You will serve as a key member of the Center of Military History’s senior corporate leadership, working directly under the supervision of the Chief of Military History with the resources of the Center to assist your work.

General Schedule
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: The resumes of qualified candidates must reflect their experience in the following areas: A. Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and manage a large and complex organization supporting a Federal department-level institution or its equivalent. B. Comprehensive knowledge in managing the financial and logistical requirements of an organization comparable in size to the Army Museum System described above. C. Training and experience in the area of museum operations, with an emphasis on exhibit design and both education and outreach programs.
The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) expenses will be authorized.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
